College students who are US citizens have 2 choices:

  • Register to vote using your student address.

  • Register to vote using your permanent home address.

If you choose to register and vote in Michigan, you have three options:

You can register online if you have a Michigan Driver’s License OR Michigan Personal ID and know your social security number.

Mail In

You can mail in your Michigan Voter Registration Form to your local clerk.

Register in Person

You can register in person at your local clerk’s office through Election Day. (Within 14 days of an election, this is your only option and you must provide proof of residency).

If you prefer to register in person…

you can visit the Dearborn City Clerk’s office or find your clerk’s office here

What you can do at the City Clerk’s office:

Important Information to Consider

If you need to register to vote on Election Day, go to your local clerk’s office

Bring the necessary documents when you register.

If you choose to vote in person on Election Day, remember that in Michigan your polling place is determined by where you live. You can find your polling place at the Michigan Voter Information Center

Bring your ID. You will be asked to provide a photo ID when you vote. Mcards are acceptable IDs, as well as Driver’s Licenses, other state IDs, and passports.

Bring a sample ballot or notes to help you fill out your ballot into the voting booth with you. If you vote in a polling place, you can’t take your ballot home with you so it is a good idea to be prepared with a sample ballot.
